We're Baaaack!!

Thank you all for your patience during our break, the rats thank you, and my sanity thanks you. We took the time to review our lines, we made the difficult decision to cut some of them for the time being.  We will not be pursuing the Mask line due to temperament, we just don't have the extra space or time to work on this at this time.  We may revisit in the future, but want to really concentrate on the lines we are keeping.  Marble will be the other line that is not going to be bred due to Malocclusion rearing its ugly head in the foundation buck.  We are very sad at this development, but again, we will probably look for more stable stock again in the future.

As promised pairings are taking place with the lines that we are excited about working with, which will mean BABIES in Mid-November.  Here is what you can expect, although timing, as always, is under nature's purview.

First Round - Paired 10/5/2020:
  • Mink x Black Werewolf - Original Line.  Breed back my original line Werewolf to their Original Outcross parents to further strengthen temperament and conformation.
  • Burmese x Black Eyed Siamese.  Pointed rats are one of my absoute favorites, by combining these two complimentary lines we hope to bring out the best in both.
  • Agouti Velveteen x Fawn.  Who doesn't want orange fluffers!
  • Black Irish x Cinnamon Whiteside.  Currently we have gorgeous Cinnamon Whiteside, we are adding Black. Rats in Pants!
  • Recessive Hairless.  These are my last two from my original Silvermane Line.  Before I knew any better I paired a Dwarf Hairless EVO Aengus with my first Silvermane from Atlantis Rattery, ROAR Black Velvet.  I had the most amazing Silvermane and hairless from this line, but got sidetracked over the years and now am down to these last two.  I hope I can salvage it.
  • Black Harley Swirl x Black Berkshire Swirl Carrier.  Lets see if we can get swirl on standard coat.
  • Black Plush Harley x Russian Blue Plush Harley.  I am excited to pair these two, they are so soft and both have snip blazes.
  • Black Roan Harley x Black Roan.  I will be happy to have nice Roan (Husky) and these may also produce Swirl.

Second Round - Estimated Pairing January 2021
  • Odd Eyed Blazed Beige Dwarf x Fawn.  Its time to bring back the minis.
  • Black Varigated Dwarf x Mink Dwarf.  Temperament on the female side is needs work, hopefully my sweetheart buck will do the job and inject some calm into these babies.
  • American Blue x American Blue Harley.  American Blue has always been a favorite of mine, paired with the plushiest of Harley, I hope this line will prove to be more stable than the previous one.
  • Black Harley x Black Silvermane.  The female carries Harley, so I'm excited to see if I get some SM Fluffers.
  • Black Silvermane x Black Varigated Downunder.  I'm excited to get  some beautiful Silvermane from my latest guy. The Downunder female is a great compliment to his solid temperament and build.
  • Black x Black Werewolf - Marten Line.  Temperament of the Marten outcross needs work, they are a little shy, and have to warm up to being handled.  Breeding back to the initial outcross parent will hopefully improve temperament and handleability.
  • BE Siamese Hairless x BE Siamese Hairless.  New Hairless line which I received at the beginning of the year in case my last two were unable to produce.  Both super sweet and BEAUTIFUL.
  • Pearl x Pearl.  There is a great probability of this pairing producing both dwarf and Werewolf, but my main goal is more gorgeous Pearls. Just a beautiful color, and these have superb lineage from DEMOcrattery.

Even though this looks like a lot, the resulting combinations are very complimentary genes, and will enable us to focus on fewer actual lines as we move forward.  Stay tuned for updates over the next few weeks.

I hate to end on a sad note, but last week EVO lost an immense character in EVO Realgar 'Gar'.  Typically found laying on his back being a lazy lard, we were never able to get him to make mini Odd Eye Martens.  He ended up becoming a personal pet here at the rattery, and constant comedian.  He delighted many and was a wonderful ambassador for the rattery.  He will be truly missed.  Here he is at his finest, in typical Gar fashion.
