Belated Happy New Year EVO followers.
The New Year saw a few new lines introduced to EVO with much thanks to Ratnarok Rattery for the gorgeous foundation stock. Ratnarok was loctated in Aiken SC, but has now moved back to FL - I will miss having such a great breeder so close. After many years of trying unsuccessfully to resurrect my Fawn line, I jumped on the opportunity to take in 3 gorgeous Fawn rats from Ratnarok to start over. I was also asked if I wanted to take over Sarah's Masked line as she had decided to go in a different direction with her breeding program. Of course I said YES! I have been interested in having a masked line here at EVO for quite some time and little SuperHero Rats just appeal to me. There are still a couple of babies from these first pairings available here.
Sarah also blessed me with DownUnder and Silvermane Does. I lost my first DownUnder line that got from Atlantis Rattery during a shutdown back in 2017, so I am thrilled to have babies on the ground from this Doe to start working with this year. DownUnder are not particularly special at first glance, they look like normally marked rats...until you check out their bellies! The markings you see on their backs are replicated on their underside. I just love seeing the gorgeous spotty bellies of variegated DU. A similar situation happened with my Silvermane/Hairless line, when I got sidetracked with other projects and let my oldest line unfortunately fizzle out. I have one Hairless Doe from my original line left, I do not know if she is SM or not, but I think its too lake to try breeding her. Enter a stunning Black SM Doe and Mink SM Buck from Ratnarok who are currently in breeding along with a Black Harley Doe. The babies from these pairings will be held back for evaluation. 2nd Generation will hopefully be made available for adoption, I can't wait for Silvermane Harley- GORGEOUS!
Since my Hairless Doe is getting up in age, the last new additions from Ratnarok are a trio of the softest, sweetest hairless babies I have EVER had. I want to just let them snuggle in my neck all day. I am TOO excited to start working with them and seeing the adorable babies they will produce.
Speaking of Hairless, my Werewolf line is continuing to improve since outcrossing. Now on Gen3, I am seeing wonderful temperament improvement, nice big, clear eyes, and conformation more in line with rat standards. A litter of Gen3 babies in on the ground, all boys *eyeroll*, both black and mink in color.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from Evolution Rattery!
We have quite a few babies that will be ready for new homes this coming weekend, and more that will be available in the New Year. Please make sure to have an approved application on file and use the contact form to let me know which babies you would like to reserve.
We have you have a WONDERFUL HOLIDAY SEASON.
I have two of these travel cages available for sale at the rattery (no shipping). I do not recommend these for permanent housing, but they would be extremely useful for vacations/trips. The stock picture is what these look like, although they each come with a deep litter pan that fits inside and in extremely good condition. They are 24" x 16" x 24" and are $30 each.
I finally have all pictures up of available rats after several hours of hiney numbing photo sessions. If only you knew how many photos it takes to get one good one of a squirmy rat!
There's lots to choose from, please make sure to reference the Litter Letter and the playing cards of the rats you wish to reserve. Make sure you have an approved application on file. I will send you an invoice of which 50% is due within 48hrs or your reserves will be released and made available to other adopters. Once your deposit, rats will be held for no more than 2 weeks, or until they turn 6 weeks old (ready date) if they are not yet old enough to leave the rattery.
Check out available babies, young adults and retirees.
We have several young adult rats available for adoption including Werewolf and Dwarf. I will be uploading photos before then end of the week. There are some babies that are ready to go, and can be adopted at the same time.
These young adults are holdbacks that were being evaluated to be part of our breeding program. There is nothing wrong with these rats, we have just decided to go in a different direction, or perhaps had the choice between two brothers and the one that developed more closely in line of our goals was selected. Young Adults are around six months old.
Retirees are made available for adoption at a reduced price to new adopters. We are indebted to those of you who graciously offer pet homes to our retired breeders so that they can experience the joy of all the attention and being spoiled.
If you are looking to add to your furfamily, please don't hesitate to contact us.
To those of you who have reserved babies, thank you so much! I'm excited for you, and excited to see how your babies grow, so please don't forget to join my Facebook Group "Rats of Evolution Rattery" so you can share pictures and connect with others who have babies from the same litters.
I only have a few babies left looking for new furever families...Please use the contact form to reserve.
Check out the available babies page for some gorgeous Marten and werewolf babies available for reservation.
The cuties below will be available in a few weeks.

A litter if dwarf was born two weeks ago, there may be one or two let go in about a month.
Litter of Siamese Harley, these will be ready in two weeks. Some black eyed and one or two dark ruby eyed.
With Facebook cracking down on the sale of animals on pages and within groups, some Rattery Pages and Rat Groups have been deleted by FB without warning, others are being reported. We will NOT be advertising rats in any way on our page or linked group so that we can continue to utilize them as places to come together as rat enthusiasts to spread the love and help educate.
We are however, trying to offer ways to keep you informed of Rattenings at the Rattery without you having to keep clicking on the website. So, you have hopefully received our recent email giving you the option of opting-in on a 'push' email when we send out a new announcement via this Blog.
In case you hadn't pick up on it yet - THIS IS A TEST.
I would love for you to stay abreast of new litters, available babies being posted, transports being offered to neighboring states, and new and fun things going on here at EVO. Let us know if this thing is working.....or not!
I recently had a poor review left on my Facebook Page by someone who had a problem with my use of Essential Oils in my rattery and offering to add orders to my own PERSONAL order if anyone wished to do so.
To address my advertising products on my rattery page, it is just that, my page, on which I do as I see fit.
As for the use of oils, I have taken many steps to educate myself on what I am using and recommending including taking French Medicinal Aromatherapy Certification. This was taken through the New York Institute of Aromatic Studies. It is 75+ education hours + 48 hours which includes 12 case studies and final paper. It is NOT affiliated with Young Living. I also plan on taking full Animal Aromatherapy Certification when time permits.
I reference Dr. Melissa Shelton DVM, who has worked for over 10 years with medical grade essential oils in her veterinary practice, including those by Young Living, and authored the Animal Desk Reference. I use this as my BIBLE when using ANY essential oils or blends with any animal. I also work extremely closely with my own Board Certified Diplomate Exotics veterinarian, who supports my rattery, and is keenly interested in how I use the essential oils to support my rats health and sometimes healing.
I have spent $1000’s travelling from SC to Utah to attend the Animals and Essential Oils Conference, for lectures from veterinarians, scientists, herbalists, etc., to make sure that I am up to date.
I do not take the use of essential oils lightly or without first knowing what I am using down to its phytochemistry, how to use it properly, and its effects. Young Living oils are the ONLY oils marketed that have been FDA approved for internal use (GRAS), and are the most closely monitored, and tested, with the company owning the farms, distilleries, bottling and packaging/labeling facilities. They know who has handled their product, and how it has been handled from start to finish. I have known them to dump an entire season's crop because it has been deemed to be substandard and that particular oil to then be out of stock until the next year! This is QUALITY CONTROL at its finest. I would never use anything with my animals that I wouldn't use on myself.
So please, if you have ANY questions, or concerns about me, my practices, or the rattery, I encourage you to reach out and ask a few questions. I will be HAPPY to answer them honestly. Thank you.
I plan on writing up a follow-up post on which oils I use in the rattery, and which are safe to use around rats.
